I volunteer at an after school tutoring program and I am sure that the kid I’m tutoring is dyslexic. I mentioned this to the program manager but she just said that there was nothing in his file about it.

The kid is in grade four after repeating grade 3 and can hardly read. I’m not a qualified educator and I’m not sure how best to help him.

What helped you learn to read as a child? What approaches are most effective?
