Planning a Greece trip this summer (July/August) — two weeks of island hopping: Milos (3 nights) → Naxos (5 nights) → Syros (3 nights).

We'll be staying near Plaka on Milos and in Agios Prokopios on Naxos. Route is straightforward: fly into Milos, ferry to Naxos, ferry to Syros.

Main question: Is it realistic to get around on taxis alone during peak season, or do we need to rent something?

If renting makes more sense — which island would you prioritize, Milos or Naxos? And what type of vehicle? I've seen mixed opinions on buggies/ATVs vs. scooters vs. a regular car.

Hi fellow travelers, hope you can help us out with some advice!

We’re going to Greece this summer (July/August) for about two weeks and will be island hopping between Milos (3 nights) → Naxos (5 nights) → Syros (3 nights).

We’re currently debating whether or not we should rent a car on Milos or Naxos.
On Milos, we’ll be staying near Plaka, but a bit closer to the coast.
On Naxos, we’ll be staying in Agios Prokopios.

Our travel plan is:

  • Arriving by plane in Milos
  • Taking the ferry from Milos to Naxos
  • Then another ferry from Naxos to Syros

Our main question: Is it realistic to rely on taxis/Ubers to get around during the summer?

If renting a vehicle is recommended:

  • Which island would be better to rent one on (Milos or Naxos)?
  • What kind of vehicle would you suggest? I’ve seen people mention buggies/ATVs.
  • Are scooters a good option for getting around the islands?

Thanks in advance for helping us get started with planning our trip!
