Every society exerts forms of social violence on its members. This can be physical, economic. It can also be more subtle, symbolic and cultural: contempt, ignorance, humiliation, etc. Cinema is a powerful revealer of this violence, as well as the resources that women and men mobilize to confront it. A film club conceived and led by sociologist Nicolas Duvoux to explore sociological concepts through their representation in film. Following the screening, Nicolas Duvoux will engage in a one-hour discussion with the audience.
