My 2005 Mazda3 Hatchback has an intermittent taillight failure. None of the other electronics of the car are being affected, but when the vehicle is on, the taillights don’t always work. When they do, they will sometimes turn off on their own and can only be brought back by hitting the passenger side of the radio/AC area beneath the glovebox, often several times. Sometimes they run fine for weeks with no need to whack, and other times I’m whacking it every 5 or so minutes while driving to remain legal on my way home.
No mechanic as of yet has been able to both recreate and fix the problem, and most failed to recreate the issue entirely. Google has given me multiple different answers. The spark plugs, fuses, fuse boxes, signal stalk, bulbs and sockets are all working/recently replaced in an attempt to fix this.
If anyone has any ideas as to what may be causing this, I’d love to hear about it.
