Mechanical engineer what should be my next course..?

Graduated from tier 3 college

Started with 1.2 LPA

Now after 4 years at ~ 7 Lpa

Design engg. with extensive knowledge is SW software just got promoted to lower management lvl. Handling a team of 6-7 and multiple high priority projects.

But to get here as I planned initially I have taken a 0 work life balance path but eventually wanted to reach a 50-50 balance.

Which at this stage is feeling impossible. Secondly I am thinking the ceiling is not that high.

As I have broad knowledge in multiple related domains but not speciality.

So should I focus now on the management role and do MBA on side. (But I am afraid looking at the global market that if economic collapse happens people in managemental roles specially at the lower lvl will suffer the most (just my belief))

Secondly I dont like to ask favours to join a company thru referral but rn it seems that's the best way to get a job.

I have 1 year before I am planning to switch I just need good advice on what I should focus on upskilling.

Cause rn I feel kind of lost.
