So a few days ago I got the dreaded dead pixel lines show up on my 9 Pro XL. It's only about 6 months old so I contacted Google and it was approved for a warranty repair. I was told to take it to a UBreakIFix. So I drop it off and show back up 2 hours later when I was told it would be fixed...

Well it was, except they wouldn't release the phone back to me because they couldn't run a "Google diagnostics check" on it because of the OS. I was told I needed to turn graphene off so they could run the check and give it back. They claimed that they are bound by contract with Google, as well as every other manufacturer, to do this.

I pretty much told them I wouldn't be doing that because I would lose everything on the phone, and I didn't feel like starting over from scratch. So after about 5 HRS of back and forth phone calls with Google and the manager, I finally threatened to call the police because they were depriving me of my property. At this point I was given the option to pay for the screen at a discounted price, which I did, because I wanted TF out of there.

I'd also like to add that I did not sign anything or look at any sort of terms and conditions when I dropped the phone off because their computer was down. Nobody asked anything about it. I even pointed out to the tech that I was running Graphene and was told it was not a problem because it doesnt void the warranty.

My advice to anyone using Graphene is to buy replacement parts and do it yourself, and don't count on any sort of warranty repair happening. UBreakIfix will literally try to hold your property hostage.
