[TOMT] medieval or dark fairytale style movie
I’ve been trying to identify a movie scene that disturbed me as a kid for YEARS.
I only saw this one specific scene because I was channel surfing randomly one weekend around 2006/2007 when I was about 11 years old. The movie itself looked older though — like it could have been from the late 80s or early-to-mid 90s.
It was a live-action fantasy/medieval movie, and I remember the scene VERY clearly:
A little blonde girl (possibly a princess, maybe around 7–10 years old) is being led by two guards holding her hands. She doesn’t seem scared at all — she’s happily swinging between them and laughing like she thinks they’re playing a game.
They’re guiding her toward what I remember as a stone altar or platform near cliffs/rocks and water. A king or royal figure is standing there watching her approach.
I’m pretty sure the implication was that she was being sacrificed or executed, because I remember a shot afterward of something falling into the water (possibly her head or body after a beheading).
The next scene I remember is a woman — maybe the queen or the girl’s mother — frantically searching for her, seemingly not knowing what happened.
