Grain spawn gets very wet after sterilising. What to do?

Attaching a before and after photo. Kernels were dry to touch before putting them in the jars, they had foil with a rubber band around them. I also put some vermiculite on the bottom to collect any excess moisture. As you can hopefully see from the pictures its significantly wetter after coming out of the instant pot. Micropore on each of the jars is wet so I'm assuming its getting in through there. Am I doing anything wrong? Should I just leave these jars somewhere for a few days till they dry up a bit before inoculating?

Edit: all good, looks like this is normal from doing some more research. The popcorn should reabsorb the moisture over the next couple of days. Thanks!

How long can I leave soaked + simmered grain in the fridge/freezer before sterilising?

Accidentally soaked and simmered a bit more grain spawn than i needed. I'm waiting on a few new mason jar lids with filters that I'll be able to use for them but I'm not expecting them for 2-5 days. Can i store my soaked grain in the fridge until then and then sterilize them when the jars arrive? Or the freezer? Anyone had any experience doing this? Thanks

Edit: i might just do it actually, yolo. I'll keep it in a couple jars in the freezer and inoculate them when I get the lids. I'll mark them separately from the other jars i inoculate and make a comment on this post with whatever results i see.

Can i use a dehydrator to dry grain spawn before putting it in a jar?

Above^ people talk about leaving it on a tray until it's dry on the outside, can i speed up this process by chucking it in the dehydrator for a bit? It's pretty cold here so they dry pretty slow

Can I put colonised monotubs in the fridge for a month?

Going away on holidays for a month soon.

If I had some monotubs that I've already s2b, can i store them in the fridge for that long?

If so, do i need to be mindful of how colonised they are? Can semi colonised monotubs be kept on the fridge? Or does the mycelium need to have completed taken over the substrate?

Thabks, im new to this. If airflow is an issue i have someone at home who can potentially open the fridge door from time to time

Is basmati rice ok for creating grain spawn jars?

I live in Australia and for some reason it's very hard to find long grain brown rice in the supermarkets.. medium grain is everywhere but not long. I've heard that shorter grains isn't ideal because of the starch content or something. Has anyone had experience using basmati? I feel like its the closest im going to get if i decide to go down the brown rice route

I live in Aus so I have to pay a tonne in shipping. I'm hoping to be able to buy some LC syringes that can last me a couple years if possible so I dont have to get them shipped over every year. I've seen people say that the syringes don't last more than 6-12 months generally, but that putting them in agar or something can help. I've been having trouble finding an official looking guide on how to do this though, and different people seem to have different opinions. It's also complicated by the fact that people seem to say that different strains of LCs prefer different conditions. What I'd love is a guide or book that covers:

  1. Optimal storage of LCs, as well as how long roughly they last
  2. Anything that can be done to make LCs last longer outside of just keeping them in the syringe (like transferring to agar plates etc)
  3. The method of transferring to agar, what to do here etc.
  4. How much longer it lasts in agar compared to just staying in the syringe
  5. What to do when I've got a sample in agar and am ready to inoculate a bag.

Sorry I know these are probably really basic questions but most posts I've found have just a couple comments and some conflicting answers have made me scratch my head a bit. Any help would be massively appreciated

Looking for vendors that aren't just "hey man add Nikol1932 on telegram he won't let you down i swear it"

I'd absolutely love some LC syringes but even spore syringes or swabs would be great. Feeling some major FOMO seeing all the great vendors in the US 😞

Happy to buy from overseas and wait a month or two, just looking for something legit.
