Hi everyone, it’s been almost 3 weeks since she arrived at my home, and I’ve been gradually getting her used to me by putting my hand in and getting closer each time.

Yesterday I decided to handle her for the first time.

She was trying to escape, although she had a few seconds of calm.

Is this a good start? Or should I have waited longer? Any advice on how to keep her calm once I’m holding her? Is it a good idea to do this for 5–10 minutes daily?

(By the way, it was a bit hard to pick her up since they’re very fast. She’s 4–5 months old.)

Thanks!

I need advice on handling my snake for the first time. She’s 5 months old and has been with me for about 15 days. She’s already eaten twice and everything has gone perfectly. This is my first snake and I want to do things right and build trust with her.

During the first week, I left her alone until she ate for the first time (giving her 72 hours to digest).

Since then, I’ve been putting my hand in the enclosure every night. At first, I just left it there until she stopped fleeing quickly.

Now I’m at the point where I bring my hand close and she sometimes brings her head closer too (it almost looks like she’s about to lick me), but then she turns away and slowly goes to hide.

I’ve also gently touched her 3–4 times, but she’s not very used to it yet and sometimes it makes her flee.

What’s the next step? I feel a bit stuck because trying to pick her up makes her scared and run away or try to hide. I haven’t made any progress these last few days.

Is it better to keep going like this for longer, or should I just go for it and pick her up?

P.S. She loves climbing :)
