Hi all,
I recently got married abroad and I’m Dutch (born and raised, always had Dutch nationality). I’d love to bring my wife to the Netherlands, but we’re running into some issues.

I just graduated and never had sustainable income before starting work. I’ve now been working full time for 3 months, earning above €3,000 per month with a five-figure end-of-year bonus. I meet the income threshold, but because I don’t have a permanent contract, the IND says I need to demonstrate prior sustainable income which I obviously don’t have as a fresh graduate.

To work around this, I asked my employer for a werkgeversverklaring (employer’s declaration) including a continuation statement, which confirms my contract will be extended for at least 12 months.

My question: is this sufficient to satisfy the income requirement? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Please no ChatGPT or Claude responses I’ve already done that. I’m specifically looking for people with firsthand experience of how the IND handles this in practice do they robotically reject these cases or do they show some understanding?
