I want to ask: when you plan to get a saxophone (like a Yamaha or Selmer) from an online marketplace, do you look for the serial number and where it was made? I see a lot of players online saying the serial number is important. I’m afraid of buying a fake saxophone and cost a lot of money. Do you have any tips or advice? Does someone bought a generic saxophone but still have good tone and lasted for many years?

I went through some music store that I could find and there are different prices to pick. Right now, I’m still deciding if I could invest on new but expensive sax, local ones but less expensive sax, or 2nd hand saxophone? How could I also check if that’s the right saxophone even you don’t have experience to it?
