Hey everyone!
I have been enjoying my new MacBook Pro with M3 pro chip for month now. It is the version with 18gb ram and 512 gigs ssd. It is a beast and it is flying through most of the task I need. One thing that struggles a bit is Davinci...
I am using the Studio version and while simply editing 4k footage is a breeze, dealing with even the simples effects and transitions is painful.
I know proxies, ram, and so on, but hear me out. Simple Text+ layer with ONE transform node for slide in text effect and the timeline playback is struggling with 1080p. I just find it very weird since every other app is mostly faster than my thoughts - for example Cavalry. The realtime playback there is buttery smooth even with 10 or more layers and multiple keyframes and effects going on.
Should I consider learning Final Cut Pro for easier and faster edit of short reel content? In work for media and TV I will still be using Davinci, but for editing reels with just simple animations I find it very unproductive in Davinci.
Any suggestions on how to up the performance in Davinci? Any settings there that I might have missed and could boost it?
Thank you!
