Anyone experienced with getting a doctors’ note for work related stress?
I am getting burnt out. I was wondering if anyone seen a doctor for work-related and got a doctors’ note from them. If so, what does the note say for reasons unable to go to work?
Is this even a valid excuse in HK? What do you usually tell the doctor?
We work at a 24/7 IT MSP and we have shift from either 6:30am or 9pm. We usually rotate this shift on a 6 month basis. Only me and this other guy rotates these early shifts.
The issue is; the other guys is constantly late for early shifts (6:30 am). My manager sat down with me last time and asked me to cover early shifts until further notice as the other guys was unreliable. I was okay with it at first, but working early shifts for so long has taken a toll on me. When it was time for the other guys to take up early shifts, he ends being late again.
I know my manager will ask me to take over again but I really don’t want to work early shifts anymore. How should I tell him this when he eventually asks?
I have been working this position for almost 4 years now and it started out great. However, this company has been slowly losing engineers and clients. This is a 24/7 company with over 50+ clients. Our Service Desk team is about 4 people.
My responsibilities include;
* Answering phone calls, emails, and handling tickets
* Do back up reports daily
* Follow up on stale tickets
* Create case with vendors if hardware/software failures
* Schedule resources (engineers) to assist clients remotely or onsite
* Handle scheduling if any changes (rescheduling, sick leaves, urgent leaves, etc.)
* Perform back end task like password resets
* Perform remote task if no engineers available
* Do server and PC maintenance on the weekend
My issues;
* When engineer call in sick, we will have to do rescheduling on some task/ regular onsite. The issue is, this consistently happens for some engineers on certain days. Some clients will not budge and want the task to be done as scheduled.
* I absolutely hate telling clients that we will have to reschedule their task because the response is usually of annoyance if not anger.
* We have no resources to cover when someone is on sick/urgent leave, but we can't tell clients we have no one.
* The operational manager handles on vendor transactions. We will have to end up asking her if we need to get license from Ingram (lol) for new user set ups or other purchases. The issue is that they don't reply most of the time. Recently, our company payments or Ingram has issues which cause some of our clients to lose licenses.
* None of my team mates, engineers, or account managers are helpful. Often times, you will be berated.
* The fact that we have to do the remote task when there is so little of us in the team. That means one of us will not be able to take calls.
* I honestly think I don't get paid enough for this ($17/hr)
Am I overreacting on saying that I'm working for a terrible company or just burnt out? What is it like for your company?
