Starting a new hybrid J soon. It's 2 days in office role, most of team is in another state. J1 has no meetings on certain days so I plan to go to the office then.

I've managed this before but only with remote roles so would appreciate any tips/advice! Please help me out here - what should I watch out for? any best practices?

Goal is to do this for 1 more year until wheels fall off/until another wave of layoff at J1 as i know it's not going to be sustainable.

I OE'd for 10 months until J2 did a mass layoff and cut 40% of team, and I was impacted.

I saw the writing on the wall and started interviewing early. Happy to say I’ve accepted a new offer and I’m back at it!

This new J2 is a large corp with a hybrid setup (2-3 days in office), and my core team are in a different timezone/state. It’ll be my first time navigating a hybrid setup like this, so any tips on making it work smoothly would be appreciated. Still looking for remote work but those are hard to come by nowadays.

Big takeaway for me: never stop applying, never stop interviewing. You really never know what’s coming. My J1 also had layoffs recently (likely not the last), and I was fortunate to make it through but who knows if I'm safe the next time.

Good luck out to y'all out there, keep OEing and keep stacking

I recently lost my J2 which was fully remote. Now have 2 offers that are hybrid with 2 days in office requirement. Still applying for more remote jobs but there are fewer listings now and even more competitive.

My current J1 does not have a lot of meetings, most meetings are on Monday and just 2. Wondering if this is too much to risk?

Two possible hybrid J2s

- 1 is in-office for 2 days on specific days but do not overlap, team is local

- 1 is flex in-office on any days but 2 total, core team and manager will be based in another state with employees all around the world. I don't get why hybrid is a requirement tbh not sure if I can negotiate.

Anyone else who has a similar set up? Has it worked out? Is it possible to do this or should I focus my efforts on remote?
