Was I in the wrong with what I said to my doctor?

To start off with, I am autistic, so I genuinely want to know.

After getting a new PCP, I find out they only work 3 days a week and take several months off a year to travel.

His nurse said he paid off his loans so works as little as he wants.

I told him that was crazy, that PCPs should be more available to their patients and that I can’t have one that is always out of the office. He said his schedule is not my business how much he works and I can find another doctor if he can’t meet my needs.

Does your doctor charge for MyChart messages?

My doctor’s office said they are going to start doing this for any message that circumvents an appointment because too many people were abusing the system.

Is this normal?

Mine wants $250. I thought they would just do it since I’m a patient, but since it’s done outside of the appointment time they said can’t just work for free.

Anyone have a PCP that says they just don’t fill out paperwork?

My PCP says they stopped doing it because it was “too contentious” and “everyone was constantly arguing with them.” Now it’s just a service they choose not to offer.

They said I could ask my specialists or find a new PCP.

Anyone else run into this and find a solution?

Okay? I wasn’t asking them to. It’s like they saw this in my chart and thought was going to be some horrible patient that would demand daily opioids.

Has anyone had a doctor be so defensive about this before?

My doctor has never said anything outright per se, but I just get the sense they feel overwhelmed by me.

I get it, I’m not an easy patient. I have so many issues our appointments usually run late. And I have to send a lot of MyChart messages.

But it seems like they just get a glazed look in their eye when another thing goes wrong and I bring up another issue.

Sometimes it feels like they aren’t really that glad to see me, and that I’m one of their problem patients.
