I kept seeing people says the Witcher 3 is meant to be played in DM difficulty so I jumped straight into DM since released.

I completed the game in DM difficulty like sixth times with 4 being NGP which are easier I think due to established builds. (1.32 version)

But I felt forced to get Witcher gears to play effectively since I don’t use quen in my playthrough. Some monster hit animations are clunky in this game that you don’t really know when you will get hit and get one shot.

Some enemies like dogs and wolves are very frustrating to fight. I can handle them with bombs and oils but it was immersion breaking for me that my Geralt can handle a whole army of ghouls, griffins and what not but get two shots by a few dogs?

So in order to experience the game with non-Witcher gears I decided to lower the difficulty to Blood and Broken Bones expecting a walk in the park with my favourite nilfgaardian Armor and I am surprised that I can actually die to monsters fairly easily too.

Do you fellow Witcher enjoyers also play at easier difficulties because you don’t want to always play with optimal builds and experiment with other playstyles?
