Hi!

I’m trying to get back into reading after taking a break this year because of college, and I’d love some YA recs.

I really loved A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and Holly Jackson’s other books — definitely my favorite in the genre. I also liked The Naturals, but not quite as much.

I’m mainly looking for:

  • YA thrillers/mysteries
  • strong characters + twists
  • something a bit unique (maybe even paranormal/ghost elements?)

Would love to know what’s popular lately or any hidden gems!

Hey!

So I haven’t really had time to read this past year because it’s my final year of college (I’m doing a bachelor’s in biotechnology), and I kind of put all my hobbies on hold.

Now that things are slowing down a bit, I really want to get back into reading, but I feel super out of the loop with what’s popular on BookTok right now.

For context, I loved the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series and basically everything by Holly Jackson. I’ve also read a lot of Freida McFadden (especially The Housemaid), and I enjoyed The Naturals series too, just not as much.

So I guess I’m very much a YA thriller / mystery girlie - but I’m also looking for something a bit more unique? Maybe something with a creepy or ghosty vibe 👻

What are the current BookTok favorites in that genre? Or any underrated recs you think I’d love?
