Hey everyone,

I’ve been working in investment operations for a few years now and honestly… I feel stuck and pretty miserable in it.

I studied finance (bachelor’s + master’s) and always wanted to be on the investment side, but I never managed to break in. Now I’m studying for the CFA and trying to change that, but I keep thinking — what if it’s just too late?

By the time I finish I’ll be around 31/32, and I’d basically be starting from zero as an analyst. That alone stresses me out, but if I’m being really honest… I’m also just scared. Like properly scared that I’ll put all this time and effort into the CFA, try to make the move, and still fail.

At the same time, I know I can’t stay in ops. I just don’t enjoy it and I don’t see myself doing this long term.
Has anyone here made a move like this a bit later on? Or felt this kind of fear and still gone for it? I’d really appreciate hearing how it turned out (good or bad).

Thanks!
