Hi everyone!
I’m coming on this thread to ask some questions because my 5y/o pug had emergency surgery today.
We brought her to the hospital on Monday because she vas very lethargic that’s very unlike her. She is a very vocal and active dog. The first place we brought her couldn’t figure out why she was sick, but they figured out that she had blood in her lungs. They drained the liquid 3 times in 2 days while they ran tests. The cytology came back negative but her blood-work looked awful.
She was getting worse so we took her to the best vet clinic in our country because we felt like we’re running out of time. They ran numerous tests and they brought her up to a state that they were able to do a CT-scan on her under anaesthesia.
That’s when we found out her left lung was completely dead. They did an emergency surgery on her immediately and she thankfully survived. So, since around 1 in the afternoon our baby is living with one lung.
Sorry for the long intro, i wanted to give context around my questions.
- Does anyone have a dog with half a lung? It would be amazing to hear some encouraging words from someone who knows how to support her in recovery and after too.
- What changes should we make to accommodate her new “body”?
- Any other ideas or suggestions are welcome, we are so worried and stressed but we want to accomodate her the best we can.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this!
Stay safe!
