Space with annoying pillar in middle

I have a space which is currently pretty empty and trying to plan out a place for a pool table. Issue is an annoyingly large pillar in the middle that will no matter what block some shots. I'm assuming no matter what I should still keep 5 feet off the full wall, even if it means that pillar gets annoyingly close (40-44 inches). Attached are sketches (to scale) of the space with a 7 feet and 8 feet table, both placed 5 feet away from the wall (with 2 desks, unrelated to the question, they might not end up being there/at worst could be pushed back another 6 inches away from the table).

Do you think it matters at this point if the table is 7 or 8 feet (i.e. the fact that we get 40 inch from pillar instead of 44, and another issue I missed)? Assuming those 2 desks on that drawing can be moved away without issue and I can leave a full 5 feet of space there if necessary, and the pillar is the only issue? Would you say this space is fine for a home table and how often will I curse that pillar?

Thank you
