Hi everyone,

I'm considering UQ's Master of Molecular Biology Research Extensive and had a question about the research component. The program structure includes 16 units of BIOX702X (the research project), and I was wondering — do students typically end up with a publication in a journal after completing this?

I know it probably depends on the lab, project, and supervisor, but I'm trying to get a sense of how common it is. Is the 16-unit research project usually substantial enough to generate publishable data, or is it more of a "mini-thesis" situation that might not reach journal standards?

If anyone who's done this program (or a similar UQ Bio research extensive master's) could share their experience — whether you published, or just submitted a thesis in UQ system — that would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!
