jonathan kent and lionel luthor are the reason clark and lex never stood a chance.

one raised his son on fear and secrecy.

the other raised his on control and manipulation.

and right in the middle of that… you had two guys who genuinely wanted to trust each other.

if even one of them had been a better father, things might’ve turned out completely different.

but here’s the part people don’t talk about enough...

jonathan doesn’t get nearly enough criticism.

everyone (rightfully) calls out lionel… but jonathan’s constant hostile distrust of the luthors and pressure on clark to keep lex at arm’s length played the biggest role. (i cant stand jonathan 😭😭)

worst father award.

clark wanted to believe in lex. you can see it early on.

but he was always being pulled back.

i’m not saying lionel wasn’t bad, he was.

but if jonathan had handled things differently…

i think clark and lex could’ve actually stayed best friends.

and as for lanas dad... he gets his own deadbeat award lol. awful parents from that and we dont talk about it enough

TVD takes that will get me banned from this sub

*(Ask me about any of these and I’ll give you my reasoning.)*

- I don't dislike Elena.

- Klaus was the show’s top 2 villain of all time, and he’s not number 2.

- Bamon should have been endgame.

- Stelena should have been endgame.

- I disliked Caroline from episode 1 and never grew to like her.

- Caroline should have ended up with Matt or Tyler.

- Steroline honestly felt like a practical joke on the audience.

- Jeremy should have died way earlier (especially before the season he cheated on Bonnie with a ghost).

- I did not hate the cure storyline, enjoyed most of it.

- Never cared for Alaric, didn't care if he lived or diedm

- I never quite got over Jenna's death.

- Julie Plec could have made Bonnie and Kai a more epic dynamic, the chemistry was there.

If Bonnie were white, she would have.

But all that chemistry was wasted because she probably didn’t want to overshadow her precious Delena.

- I don’t dislike Delena, it was fun for a while, but then it got… not fun.

- I hated Tyler from episode 1 and never grew to like him.

- Rebekah was annoying, less annoying than Caroline but still a little annoying.

- Matt is incredibly annoying and always alive, unfortunately.

- Caroline and Elena were not great friends to Bonnie.

- The town celebrates Confederate soldiers, and Damon and Stefan were Confederates, which is funny because their name is Salvatore.

- I loved Katherine. She deserved better.

- I don’t get the Klaroline thing… Julie Plec just wanted another Delena when she saw the fandom starting to ship Klaus and Caroline and went with it. There was no chemistry for me. Klaroline came out of nowhere for me as someone who watched the show live every week.

- So many great witch storylines could have been done, but Julie Plec sidelines the witches on the show, including Bonnie.

- Bamon was set up as a great enemies-to-best-friends-to-lovers arc, but Julie Plec and Caroline Dries didn’t want to go there... and we know why...

- The prison world was one of my favorite storylines. It was ruined at the end, but I still enjoyed it.

- The Originals outstayed their welcome.

- I didn’t find Enzo to be a great match for Bonnie, he was boring to me.

- Elena’s biological mom is so hot. i had a crush.

- I disliked Hayley.

- I disliked the whole sleeping beauty storyline with Elena. Lame. Julie Plec, you’re lame.

- I hated Caroline’s dad with all my heart.

- Emily Bennett was so beautiful.

- I disliked Vicki Donovan.

Mod Changes and Some Rule Updates/Addendums

hello,

first, i want to thank everyone for participating, for allowing me to create this space, and for becoming a part of it.

this is the first subreddit i’ve ever created, and i’ve honestly been pleasantly surprised by how welcoming people have been and how many of you have shown up to share your thoughts, discussions, and perspectives. it really means a lot to see the sub growing and to see people actually engaging with each other here.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

- rules:

i wanted to share a quick update on a few changes to the sub.

we’ve made a few adjustments to keep things clear and consistent:

added a no NSFW rule

removed the restriction on discussing later seasons

clarified expectations around discussion and engagement and seperated some rules that needed to be and made some further addendums, please check them out.

this is a smallville sub, and moving forward, all seasons are open for discussion.

this space is meant to be:

open to different opinions

welcoming to discussion and debate

engaging and stimulating

people are allowed to have different takes on characters, ships, and storylines. disagreement is completely fine, in fact it's encouraged cause thats how debate happens, and it’s part of what keeps the sub active and interesting. just follow the rules.

as always, this remains a safe space for lana and lana fans, and that is not changing.

- mod update:

there has also been a change to the mod team. we’ve parted ways with one of the mods, and we appreciate the time and effort they contributed earlier on.

going forward we want this sub to grow into a space where people actually want to engage, share their thoughts, and have conversations about the show without feeling shut down.

thanks to everyone who’s been contributing and helping build the community.

i look forward to seeing your posts and comments.
