tongue cancer...with more bad news quickly

diagonosed with scc tongue cancer. a few months ago, sh , did two doses of keytruda. tueseday and early wed blood in mouth so went to ER. all day yesterday, they did a cat scan. it spread to entire tongue

met the head surgeon today finally (mostly other team members before).. who broke news that my mass has taken up my entire tongue - spread quickly and up against the voice box

given two choices- 1) surgery, no voice moving forward at all, unable to eat properly moving fwd, perm traech . feels like 0 quality of life. was supposed ot be about 50-60 percent taken out with reconstruciion but not anymore. full tongue now.

  1. radiation/ chemo, with no optoin for surgery down line. unsure of outcomes with this it seems.

I'm leaning on number two, but this has spread so fast and i don't know what route to go. i'm leaning on 2

what?! so i just took my second and final dose of keytruda wednesday. i'm scheduled for tongue cancer surgery the 21st. went in for my pre op stuff today, a long day, and one of the drs said they won't look or know its results until surgery day? does that make sense?

also out of no where this lead dr that i havne't met yet just randomly tells me its going to be 50-100 percent removal based on what she looked at the scans? but nobody else has mentioned anything that much prior?

i was upsset and managed to get them to scheduel with the cheif surgeon of the operation thursday, but i'm so not sure now what to expect and its frustrating

my team hasn't been fully clear on. what to expect during recovery. i am having my second dose and final immunology injection today (keytruda) and scheduled surgery may21st. i was told the weekend in ICU then released around 7 days. probably getting radiation but haven't been confirmed yet.

what sort of pain levels will i have when i. get home ? i already lost my voice about two weeks ago. will i beable to walk at all ? i have a flight of stairs (like 8 ) i need to get up to my apt.. doable? how soon after can i return to work? ( creative work at a desk, from home)

what can i buy now to make recovery easier? ( ice packs/hot blanket)

i am pretty sure its going to be with a flap, i've met with plastic surgery, unless this gets shrunk down enough from injections..it was 4.4cm before therapy
