Need advice: Stay in my comfort zone or move to a "prestigious" school for Master's?
Hey everyone,
I’m graduating soon and I’m torn between two private schools for my Master’s. Tuition is the same and I want/need a scholarship for both. I want to work in Events/freelance while studying to be independent, but I'm struggling with the trade-offs.
Option 1: Specialized Master in Marketing (Current Uni)
I know the profs and admin. It’s "chill" and I know exactly how to manage my time to keep working and making money on the side.
The Downside: Stagnant socially and I don't really trust their scholarship office based on past experience.
Option 2: Master in Management (The "Elite" choice)
Perceived as much more prestigious. It’s a very "gated" school with almost zero info online about the actual workload or schedule.
The Risk: It could be just as chill as my current uni, or it could be a 24/7 grind that kills my ability to work. I have no way of knowing until I’m in.
My dilemma:
In the long run, is the "Elite" name worth the gamble? If it turns out to be high-pressure, I lose my (potential) income and/or work experience. But if I stay in my comfort zone, I might be missing out on a much stronger degree for my future career.
What would you do? Is the prestige of a "top" school worth the risk of losing your work-life balance and financial independence?
Appreciate any advice!
