How can I make this apartment more secure?
First door: the front door is backwards, meaning it opens outwards and is not flush on the inside. I'd like to install a chain or something similar but most things are designed for flush doors that open inward. It looks like there was something previously installed but was removed. Any ideas?
Second door: the back door is just a bedroom door, the kind that you can pick with a flathead screwdriver. I'm pretty sure I can just change the type of doorknob (maybe something that needs a key for the outside but can emergency unlock from the inside, this door would only be used for emergency) and that one, thankfully, opens inward and is flush enough, so something like a chain or similar products should work. But still open to ideas.
My land lady is ok with me doing all of this, and installing a peep hole (I have Deaf family so just talking through the door isn't an option). I've done most of my own repairs in this building as the maintenance man makes me uncomfortable and is incompetent anyway.
Thank you!!!
