Hi, I'm fairly new to AE and I've had to work on a project for school using it. I'm on windows 11, AE i'm using was 25.5 for the project but I tried making a new project on the most current version of AE but the issue still comes up. Basically, I was running AE on in the background because I was making assets for it on illustrator, I had been periodically importing things and then suddenly when I tried to import something the import window froze up, wouldn't let me click on everything and became unresponsive for 10 minutes. I closed the app and tried again and the same issue occured.
I've cleared my cache in AE, reset my preferences, restarted my computer multiple times, reinstalled AE, installed the latest version of AE and still the issue keeps coming up. I've tried doing it with all my other apps closed but it still happens. I've tried importing something into a new project and it still happens. There was once very briefly where I was able to import in a video into a new project, I worked on it for a bit, then when I tried to import something else the issue came back (same when I tried to make another new project again). I've attached a video showing what happens, at this point I don't care about losing progress I just want to atleast be able to use AE on my PC. I've also tried running it as administrator as well as start it up using safe mode and it didn't work. Please help.
