WHATS WITH THE AI RECEPTIONIST SCHEMES??

AI phone agents are getting fucking crazy amount of backlash lately. I kind of get it obviously people want to talk to a human instead of AI Slop that doesnt take care of ur inqury no matter the Use-Case especially if scripted conversations and dragging convos.

Everyone can instantly tell if ur talking to AI or not the tech isn't there yet.

But as a builder myself I keep trying to connect the dots. Is that the main problem? That its AI? or is it because its not helpful / slower? If yes, meaning a working one wouldn't be a problem?

Got a background in software sales, founded 2 years ago with technical cofounders building deep integrated on-prem agents for months. We reached a 90% first call resolution rate. Now is the other stuff on the market that's coming out every week, what do you call that, quick adoption? fast execution? ai slop? I rly dont know. But we're having prospects who use exactly these providors tell us that customers find it annoying. WHAT IS GOING ON??? There's a new kid on the block literally every week. This a red ocean already, while the projection numbers say exactly otherwise? Is this dropshipping all over again?

I think the issue is that many companies approached this space like a voice generation problem, when it’s really an infrastructure + operations problem.

Is the backlash against AI phone agents actually about AI itself or just about bad implementation?

We're still making money and don't see concerning churn, but it still makes me wonder what we signed up for????
