Very Premature F3 Liberty Molly hybrid Fry

Weird disappointed news Ig? So this female F2 (pic 2) wasn’t looking so hot yesterday she def over ate and breathing heavy bc she’s gravid. Seems the fry amount is too much for her looks as she’s developing dropsy. I popped her in the breeding container for the night to not be harassed by the males. I wake up and see a veryyyy premature blonde fry. Idek if it’s alive but I separated the fry into a cup and letting it float in the tank hopefully it survives. I’m waiting to see if she will drop more premature fry. I can’t put her back the males will stress her to death and I’m not a fan of breeding containers for such a big sized Molly. Sigh she’s a pretty female too 🥲. Also to prevent her from eating she’s in there her fat self will still try to eat. This feels like the situation if you gotta save the kids or the mom dilemma 💀… I’ll give her till tmm to drop fry.

Display pics of the Tiger Liberty hybrids

Tiger Limia (M) x Liberty Molly (F)
50% islai, 50% Salvatoris

Not all the hybrids shown, currently sitting at 5 males (all shown), and a couple females (2 shown). I wanted to get display media of them especially the females, I haven’t really shown much of. I’m raising them across two tanks, I’m separating the males from the females as the rest are still sexing out. I just happen to have 2 females in my main tank that sexed out, I pulled those ladies out to avoid sibling crossing. I pretty much only need the females I’m tryna backcross to islai to make the bars dominant in my second tank. The males residing in the main tank, they can do whatever and hit the Liberty females for the time being, in case the females ends up sterile, I’ll reroute the project.

F3 Liberty Molly Hybrids

Liberty Molly (M) x F2 Blonde melanistic (F)
(87.5% Salvatoris, 12.5% Sphenops)

They are about 1 week old, there were def more fry hiding around the tank, I caught out throughout the week, when I first posted the two fry. So far from one F2 blonde female, she gave me 5 melanistic Blondes, and 3 plain Wildtypes (unsure if any will show late melanistic markings). The wildtypes are def pure liberty fry passing but I’m not gonna use them for breeding just the blondes. They look quite nice better than the F1’s, and F2’s when they were fry. I was under the impression that backcrossing to liberty using only blonde type specimens, I would get lower percentage of blonde offsprings, but nope that female gave me more blondes to wildtypes.

Tri Tiger Liberty hybrids update

Limia islai (M) x F2 Wildtype Melanistic Liberty Molly hybrid (F)

(50% Islai, 37.5% Salvatoris, 12.5% Sphenops)

None show any signs of bars either plain body or melanistic. Splotches is dominant over bars in this cross apparently. Not keeping all except the one fry that’s the most freckled. Also there’s only 1 fry that has a pale grey toned base over that copper grey base the rest has. I had just fed them but their body form is somewhat bulkier than the Tiger Liberty (islai x salvatoris) cross, head shape is more bulldog ish, def because of the sphenops blood.

More Oropuche guppy media

The Obscura’s adjusted well in their tank. Couldn’t get pics of all but Pics (1&2): same male with a flashlight on it, Pic 3: one of the females, Pic (4-6): this male is a tester 🌚, he’s staying in the main tank with the endlerguppies, mainly to study behavior and ofc *hybrids*. they look very nice colored up. The green iridescences is hot lol, they are def more metallic over saturated coloring.

Random fry pics

Most are f2 orangeline hybrids not sure if it’s sibling cross, or females mating with the other endlerguppy males. I can just tell by how pale and golden some of the fry are. The olive and gray looking fry most likely are Bluestars or Silverados or Blackbar.

Pic 11-13: no clue on this fry it’s pretty slender built and elongated I want to assume picta hybrid fry but 💀I doubt I’ve never seen the female drop fry for me ever smh if so good chance the dads are the orangeline hybrids I handpicked for her.

The first batch of islai x tridens are getting quite chonk lol. They’re now around 2 months 1 week old. Close to sexing out maybe another month. Pics 1-6 these juveniles are 6 out of the 11 in the first batch is growing in the main tank they’re slightly smaller than their other siblings I have in the 5gal growing out. These hybrids do remind me of the Lendlers when they were juvies def bc of their tridens influence. Pics 7-11 are the other 5 siblings from the 1st batch. Slightly bigger than their other siblings as mentioned. They colored down more pale bc of the no lights and bare bottom in the their tank. When their bars are colored down they do resemble tridens more with a funky mouth shape.

I’m so hype about this. A fellow ALA member answered my ad listing in the e-trader. And offered me 3 pairs of Obscura’s. He got them from an auction in the NAGWG club meeting. This strain descendant from Schumer Labs in Leland Standford Junior University. They gonna be in their own tank that’s fs. They are gorgeous!

Got around to taking comparison media of one of the Tiger Liberty males above is a pure Liberty Molly (the uncle), and Bottom pure Tiger Limia (Dad/Uncles). The Islai wouldn’t hold still so best I got lol. The Tiger Liberty is still young but def showing more Salvatoris leaning features with age. Only consist Limia trait that stuck is the black and yellow dorsal, wide chest cavity, flatter head, and slight protruding lower jaw. The bars it had as a fry now turned into iridescent streaks like Salvatoris, but the length and placement of the streaks is still more on islai side. Narrow penduncle like Islai, but stretched out somewhat like Salvatoris. Not sure if the fins of the Tiger Liberty will tinge orange/red but I’ll have to wait longer till after he matures. Can’t complain better than a plain clear dorsal 💀. Also provided some collages, Pic 2: Liberty Molly, Pic 3: Tiger Liberty, Pic 4: Tiger Limia

I could only find these two atm there’s probably more hiding or got eaten idk. The F2 blonde female dropped fry for a pure Liberty male making these F3’s a second gen backcross to pure. 87.5% salvatoris, 12.5% sphenops. Im only keeping the blond fry. I’ll wait for the other females to drop fry once I get a decent amount of blonde f3’s. Ill finally retire the F2’s for good.

Now if things goes well, I’ll cross the F3 blondes to the future offsprings of my F1 Tiger Liberty hybrids that’s backcross to pure Limia hopefully.

I wish I took pics the day I was adding the Carophyll and Astaxanthin to the fishes diet. Okay I got the compounds on April 14th so 2 weeks and a few days ago. Last pics I had of these two F2 blond Liberty females was March 13th. As you can see the pics i took today, Ik i wasnt tripping out they are pink hued 😭. Ofc I wouldn’t notice the gradual color shift, it was only bc I was scrolling through my camera roll, I realized how shifted their colors were. Yes the blondes are def more noticeable over the wildtype Livebearers in the tank. I have high confidence the blonde ladies fry will be 100x better than them color wise.

Down to this adult female for the hybrid project. I still have two juveniles but they are too young to use. Full sending with this lady. She wasn’t getting gravid with isolated pairing so I’ve just been letting her roam the tank and letting whatever male mates with her. Odds in favor for the orangeline hybrid males I had planned to cross anyways. I have more of them compare to the other endlers.

u/Latrell_Shemar22 — 16 days ago

I still struggle to get good pics of the 2 males, so it’s just the dominant male in these pics amongst the females lol. Hmm I don’t think I’ve showed it on here but last slide I got those two compounds back on April 14th. Astaxanthin and Carophyll red for the Livebearers, helps bring out the colors especially in the liberties and hybrid offsprings. I had already made a batch of dry food using them ontop of Spirulina I had for a good while now. I totally forgot to take Day 1 pics before feeding them the food, but just from personal observation. I’m seeing very minimal color shifts on the fishes. Def will take longer to see any significant difference in color saturations in the fins so yea, time will tell. Ik fs the next sets of fry being born from the females def will have better color potential.

Abit over 2 weeks I last shown them. The juveniles are growing faster than I thought. Seen this little one resting on a leaf. Nice blue iridescence. The rest sleeping in the plants somewhere. Between all the individuals I split between both my tanks, I’m starting to see some form differences. I want to test myself to see if I’m able to sex them very young but nah I’ll wait another month for I do so. Some shows more islai leaning body shape others shows tridens leaning body shape pretty interesting whenever I get the chance to catch them for display pics. Like with their islai and tridens blood the number of bars varies between them. Also if I can get pics of them when they’re active during the day their bars gets pretty bold it’s cool.
