Newbie rider.

Is it me or the tak? I couldn't get comfortable riding in Turkey. I cut my hand on the horn once, found it really difficult to do rising trot. I moaned twice. They weren't much help. Everything felt wrong. I usally ride westen style long reigns. Can canter, cant gallop. I feel very comfortable and confident in traditional westen ranch or trial saddle with long reigns. They said they ride western style and this is what I got and I struggled. Is it me that the problem that I'm just not used to different tak or it is the tak? The horse also was very well behaved but seemed uncomfortable.
