Inspired from Hogwarts Legacy (grim reaper) and the “It was dark times Harry” scene from The Philosophers Stone movie. It was created with black colored pencil and graphite. This is the first time I’ve completed a drawing without ripping it to shreds out of frustration. I had a lot of help from the internet. Despite rushing the windows / front door and some other unfinished areas that I’m too lazy to fix…I’m satisfied with the overall result and look forward to making more artwork in the future. Eventually, I want to make a bigger colored version of this with Lily and James in the window holding Harry. If you were wondering. Yes, I cut and glued Voldemort to a blank piece of paper after messing up the first drawing. I spent way too much time shading that cloak for me to restart the whole thing.
My brother died young many years ago and our shared love of Harry Potter remains one of my strongest ties to him. I will never forget the magic this series brought to our childhood, and the wisdom it has brought me in adulthood. I’ve always loved the message of these series: Death is not something to be feared or conquered, but welcomed when the time comes. This scene is the most powerful to me because Lily and James willingly lay down their lives to save Harry. Without a second thought. Something Voldemort could never understand.
Through my love of the series my brother’s spirit remains alive, and I hope in the next life we can walk through the barrier to Platform 9 3/4s together.
TLDR: My first drawing. Now addicted.
