I'm a mobile DJ and was wondering if anyone could tell me their opinion on a padded cover's effect on sound?

I use 2 x 15" subwoofers (coupled) and have been wondering if I should remove the covers when I'm using them.

On the one hand i just think that bass frequencies won't care a jot about a couple of millimeters of fabric at performance level volume, but on the other hand I'm acutely aware that I'm basically smothering the whole top bottom back and sides with something padded, and surely that's surely gonna affect its natural resonance, right?

All views welcome...

EDIT: The cover is unzipped at front to reveal the grill and port etc. It doesn't literally cover the entire unit.
