Hey everyone,

I’m 23M and planning to buy health insurance for my family. Details: Father (57),Mother (46),Sister (18),Me (23)

No one has any existing medical issues. Father had a knee fracture around 10–15 years ago, but no current problem.

Need advice on the following:

1-I’m thinking of taking a family floater for my parents, and separate individual policies for me and my sister. Is this the right structure?

2-What would be an ideal sum insured for us?

3-I’ve decided to go with HDFC ERGO but I’m confused between plans. I had bought Optima Secure (family floater for parents) for ₹39k with ₹10L SI, but cancelled it during the free-look period because I felt Secure+ might be more future-proof due to the no-cap feature.

However, I’ve also seen people mention premium hikes, especially since Secure+ is a newer plan. Should that be a concern?

4-Is Optima Secure ₹10L (which may effectively become ₹30L/₹40L after 2–3 renewals) a better option than Secure+ ₹10L, considering total premiums paid over the long term?

5-Should I also take Secure+ individual plans for me and my sister?

Would really appreciate advice from people who’ve researched this well or have personal experience.
