Help with harvest: To wash or not to wash

This is my 6th grow and I am growing 2 plants. Most grows I don't get the best yield maybe 50 grams from 2 plants. The seeds I am using this time seem to be producing much more and look to be very frosty so I am hopeful of a much better yield. The seeds are I am using are from green rose seed company in canada and are called crasher breath (indica) and are a cross of mendo breath and crashed out cookies. I think this will be a good batch!

I do use cannabis often but in very low amounts. I rarely ever smoke flower. I prefer rosin and my electronic dab rig. I take one puff and I am done (i am 55 and used to be able to smoke much more when younger but can't at my current age). If I buy a gram of rosin it will last me close to 6 weeks. I own a 6 ton dabpress and sometimes buy flower and press it. My last harvest I couldn't get much rosin from each pressing and I guess it was due to low quality buds. What I did press was also dark and not a very great taste. Given my low usage some people might even question why I bother growing. I like getting up each morning and checking my plants and I enjoy the buzz from weed I grow myself.

I have stock left over from my previous grows and I would like to use this current harvest better than I have in the past. I am hoping to make live rosin. I read about test washes but they say to use a small amount like 14 grams to do a test wash, but that would be a considerable percentage of my yield so I would maybe skip this.

questions:

- is it possible to do a test wash with a smaller quantity?

- is it worth even trying to wash a small grow like this? and then make bubble hash and press that? is there a better process for a small grow that results in something close to live rosin?

- is there a better way? maybe cure the flower and press that? i am trying to avoid that because my last grow the yield was so low it wasn't worth pressing, the rosin didn't taste great and I hate trimming and I am hoping I could maybe do a much more rough trim if my goal is to freeze the flower and wash it. I am also going away for 2 weeks and of course the way it looks I will need to chop them then right before I leave and not have much time to do a good trim for dried flower.

- what do other folks do when then have a harvest but don't really smoke the flower? i like edibles but I try to reserve that for weekends as a weeknight it can last way too long and I end up having a rough morning the next morning and work is "difficult". i am looking for ideas how other small growers use their harvest without smoking it.

Sorry for my all over the place post but I would like to get some insight on what other growers do who don't really smoke their flower. Any responses are appreciated!
