Summary:

What is the max cutting speed for a boss laser HP series machine (specifically cutting not engraving)?

Boss Laser is trying to tell me the max speed is 15mm/s after sending a technician to replace parts and troubleshoot.

Background:

My company bought a boss laser HP3655 earlier this year. From the beginning, we noticed the same repeated issue with cuts. On a square, the bottom right and top left corners have ripples, like a PID overshoot kind of thing maybe. On more complex geometry, this issue is very apparent. This happens when cutting at any speed over 15mm/s. I reached out to their support team and they had me tension the pulleys, send them tons of photos and videos and finally decided to send a tech out to our shop. The tech replaced all the pulley's and bearings and spent the whole day test cutting but the same thing kept happening.

After the visit, they are telling me the maximum cutting speed of the HP series machines is 15mm/s. They say this is because the HP series laser head is too heavy for the machine to move faster, that the advertised speed of 1000mm/s is just for engraving. (Just for reference, the HP series machines have larger laser heads than the LS for metal cutting.) Sure, i get that engraving can move much faster than cutting but other companies we work with tell us they cut fabrics at about 225mm/s. Boss Laser is saying i should have bought an LS series if I wanted to cut faster.

I just want to know if anyone with an HP series machine cuts at or below 15mm/s or if the truth is that they don't know what's wrong with our machine and want me to get lost.

It doesn't make any sense to me that they would send someone to replace parts and he would spend the day troubleshooting if they know that the machines can only cut at 15mm/s.
