Weird situation. My mother is very toxic, we no longer have a relationship. Live in different states. I moved last year, did not give her my new address. I did give my brother my new address a couple months ago as he wanted to send something for my birthday.
He texted me a screenshot from a creditwise app. Said my mom got this alert that her SSN is connected to my new address (which she should not have). He said she's fallen for a lot of scams lately but wanted to make sure I didn't have any knowledge of this before he acted on it. I'm an adult with a good job - I didn't use my mother's name, let alone her SSN to obtain my apartment.
Is this some kind of scam? We have the same uncommon last name. I'm unnerved by this. Brother says he did not provide her my address.
