
Official unemployment figures for the Las Vegas economy were updated today. Numbers for January have been finalized and preliminary figures for February have now been made available.
January
The unemployment rate increased to 5.8% in January. 13,130 positions were lost, and 5,812 workers left the labor force causing the unemployment rate increase. Nonfarm payrolls fell by 18,600. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
February (preliminary)
The unemployment rate remained flat at 5.8% in February. 985 positions were lost, but 1,026 workers exiting the labor force balanced out the unemployment rate. Nonfarm payrolls increased by 6,200. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
