Hi Reddit, I’m Larissa Waters, Senator for Queensland and leader of the Australian Greens. I’ll be answering questions here this afternoon for the next couple of hours!
While people work hard and pay their taxes, the wealth of the 1% grows in their sleep. They lobby politicians and use complex tax structures and generous tax discounts to avoid paying their fair share.
They’re making huge profits, paying little to no tax, and ripping ordinary people off.
Meanwhile, the major parties seem to have zero interest in doing anything to make them pay their fair share.
Liberals, Labor, One Nation, they all take the big corporate donations and cosy up to the richest 1%, then walk into parliament and give them tax perks and special deals to help them get richer.
Australia is at a tipping point. We need to act now or we’ll end up like the US, and our kids will never be able to afford a home. We’re working to change that, and our campaign to Tax the 1% is where it starts.
