Character that intend to use for a story: Nova

Character that intend to use for a story: Nova

Gooooooood morning, evening, and Night every one.

In the story, humans are no longer around and the world is instead inhabited by elementals: Evolved humans that are more magic than animal/human, each humans physical look being decided by their personality and is reflected in their magic.

Nova here is the princess of the fire kingdom and has a special birth defect: Overloaded Magic. She has too much magic for her body to constantly contain causing her body to be at too high of attempt for anybody to come into contact with. When she is not focused on containing it, it will find ways to escape or forcefully used (Hence the flames on her shoulders)

Nova is a very passionate person, putting her very best into anything and everything she does. She’s very mindful of others and cautious not to be too close to anyone, being scared of accidentally harming others. That being said, she is both ambitious and impatient, often times rushing into danger without much of a plan, making her a danger to herself, her friends, and the enemies as it’s often difficult to discern what she’s going to do.

Her hobbies include experimenting with her magic to see what’s possible and what harmless spectacles she can create, exploring the world, and stargazing.

If there are any questions about Nova or the world she lives in, I’ll be happy to answer. Have a good one everyone!

I ain’t got many followers on Wattpad, so publishing the chapter likely wouldnt get me much feedback. I ain’t really got anybody in my friend group to test read, so I’m gonna post it over here instead.

I ain’t a good writer, so critique, recommendations, advice, etc. is always welcome. That is all and have a nice day : )

———————————————————————————-

It was the middle of the night, sky's were clear, streets were silent. And yet, tension couldn't be any higher in the continent of Ravia.

The Vytal kingdom was based on a small island within a continent named Ravia, separating itself from the rest of land via a moat of water. A white stone castle was built in the center, wood and cobble homes line the narrow streets that were filled with habitants that used magic to defend themselves.

Humans and magic were linked together, it wasn't far fetched to see a young one practicing their magic outside or near lake. But what was an anomaly was when children that were freshly born had more physical features of elements, such as recently a couple gave birth to a boy with firey red hair, a more reddish skin tone.

From the first appearance of the boy, researchers were able to gain some insight as to what the boy had become. He was 60% magic, with the parts of him that were still human having evolved to withstand the extremities magic can bring with it. Food seemed to be more of delicacy than a requirement to the boy, suggesting his stomach is still present but not functioning the same as a human.

As the boy grew up, they learned that the boy's appearance and access to magic changed with his personality. As an infant it was never the same every day, sometimes they were ice cold, other times they were energetic with lightning, and others he'd be back to a warm calm fire.

But once the boy was older, it changed less, solidifying into one single element that he stayed for a majority of his life.

And as such, the boy was dubbed the first elemental to have been born. More followed quickly after the boys appearance, and they were treated as if they were just another human within the Vytal kingdom, King Idris even offering special jobs for them once they were older.

However, as more elementals were born, more issues began to arise that began the downfall of humanity.

Multiple Fire elements in a rooms heat it up badly, multiple Ice elements could give a human hypothermia, Lightning elements zipped around so fast they were pushing people out of the way without realizing it.

Issues started to break out as more elementals started arise and the population of humans began to decline from their existence. Chaos began to arise in the kingdom, fights between different elementals breaking out, humans getting caught in the crossfire, parts of the kingdoms being destroyed from the fights.

King Idris tried to make peace with them, offering private areas, homes, clothes, whatever it was they needed. But, some of the leaders of each elementals were dead set on war. One last meeting took place in the Vytal kingdom under a white flag, a discussion between all of the leaders and King Idris. The king tried one last time to persuade all of them away from war, away from bloodshed needing to be spilled. The only one’s willing to put the weapons down were the fire, lightning, and Wind elements. Ice, rock, and water elements were dead set on war and weren't turning away.

Unable to persuade all of the elementals, the meeting disbanded and they left to prepare for war. Idris was upset and disappointed in himself in not being able to save his residents from war, and did the anything he could to make preparations to try and save the lives of the remaining humans in the kingdom.

It was all in vain however, as the battles between the elements destroyed what was left of the castle, killing almost every human, leaving the king with no Kingdom and no citizens left to defend.

The war lasted roughly 7 years before a truce was finally made between all the elements, agreeing to end the fighting so that everyone may have time to recover and mourn from those lost in the war.

However, the island the vytal kingdom once rest upon was now inhabitable. A nasty storm of elements hovered permanently over the islands, striking wildly at anyone and everyone that approached the island. Even those who did cross the moat of water, were met with a golem made out of the broken debris of the kingdom. Its legs were pillars destroyed by rock and ice, its arms what remained of stone walls that crackled with lightning or drenched in water, its body being held together by pressurized wind while its head was nothing more than a violent purple flame.

Some theorized that the golem houses the old kings soul, others believe that it was the continent or the island punishing its residents for hurting its home.

No one would ever find out though, as any who made it to the island never returned and no trace of them was ever found.

The island was renamed to the Vytal ruins and was forbidden by all elements to attempt approaching or entering the island. Each element instead separating to make their own kingdoms elsewhere.

The ice elements took over a mountain range to the east, building their kingdom out of ice in, around, or on the mountain with ice walls to keep others out. Around 62 ice elements remained

The fire elements took to a volcano in the south east, building their homes within it out of the maroon rock the volcano was made out of or obsidian using the lava within. Population is unknown, but is estimated to be around 54.

Wind elements took to the sky's, using the clouds and their own element to bring pieces of land to the sky's above, creating their own floating kingdom. They suffered the least casualties from the war, preferring to stay out of the main fighting, starting their kingdom with around 70 people.

The whereabouts of the water elements are unknown, only that they patrol the body of water that surrounds Ravia. Any ships that may have been taken to try and flee are often sunk by large waves of water, with the only evidence remaining being left over wooden planks. Their last recorded population was 43, but that was a year prior to the end of the war.

Lightning elements took to the plains to the north, creating a larger more modern like kingdom that had electrical wires the elements used to travel from one place to another, with a starting population of around 50.

Rock elements suffered a large lost in population, having around 15 people left that could still stand after the war and did not have the capability to make a kingdom with those that remained and instead made several towns and cities to the west that connect via tunnels.

Peace lasted many long years, each kingdom rising in population and prosperity, many elements had traditions with another element or often visited as a way to keep in touch with one another.

The only kingdom to not open to other elementals was the ice kingdom, as per order of the King Bylur. The last person from the ice kingdom anyone has seen or heard from was 2 years ago, from Queen Eira.

And one day, today, the reason for that silence was loudly announced........
