Spousal Sponsorships
Came in Canada in september 2015 with a study permits valid for 4 years ( 2019) ! Graduate in june 2019 and receive my PGWP in November the same here Valid From 11 november 2019 to 11 november 2022 . Been working in different places since but on August 3th 2022 , i receive a communication from IRCC giving me an extension of 18 months on the Initial PGWP i had , its was because of Covid 19. It gave me until 11 May 2024 , and i applied the 8 May 2024 for a new permit but receive a refusal on the 6 january 2025 but in the refusal they mentionned that i overstayed because my PGWP is done since 10 february 2022 , i think its a clear mistake but with that mistake im not even supposed to receive the extension i receive but also it meant i was supposed to leave the country not considered for reconsideration, still sent a reconsideration via my lawyer since its was a clear mistake but till now no answer, And since then i don't have status. Also Got married on august 2025 the same year with my Canadian wife, we've been together since 2016, genuinely in love and we was planning for the wedding. After that we sent our spousal sponsorships application on the 14 january 2026 , We receive AOR on mars 3th 2026 , then BIL request on April 1st 2026 and complete on April 8, 2026. On April 8 2026, Also receive The Applicants Eligibility Letter where its says i'm considered for the Process but still have medical, security and Background Check to pass before final Decision. Wife also receive sponsor Eligibility on April 16 2026 . Since then we waiting for the next update . My question is since i receive AIP , if i apply for a work permit is it going to maybe create and issue with my Spousal sponsorships, is it safe for me to apply for it since in the past i had a refusal ? Is it possible to have a refusal for the SOWP if yes is it going to impact my sponsorship ? Been able to get my Health card from service ontario with my AIP but im still scared with the work permit , i have to do it in paper not online like its mentioned on the IRCC websites !
