Yo everyone,

I just got my acceptance for the BUT GEA at IUT de Sceaux (Paris-Saclay) for the 2026 intake. My long-term goal is to pursue a Master’s in Finance, and I’m planning on specializing in the GCFF (Gestion Comptable, Fiscale et Financière) track in Year 2.

I’ve heard the common sentiment that the BUT is "too practical" and less "academic" compared to a traditional Licence Économie-Gestion. I’m a bit worried that this might make it harder to get into top-tier Master’s programs (like at IAEs, top Business Schools via AST, or even Paris-Saclay’s own finance masters).

  1. Academic Rigor: Since Sceaux is considered one of the top IUTs, is the math/theory level high enough to transition into a competitive Master's?
  2. Company Links: How strong are the school's connections for finding a finance apprenticeship (alternance)? Does the school's name actually help when talking to recruiters at La Défense?
  3. Master's Success: If you did GEA at Sceaux, where did you (or your classmates) end up for your Master’s? Did you feel "behind" students who came from a theoretical Licence?
  4. The "Paris-Saclay" Factor: Does the university's prestige actually carry weight when applying to schools outside of the Saclay ecosystem?

I’m currently an international student, so any insight into the "real" reputation of the Sceaux GEA program would be massive.

Thanks in advance!

plsssss Paris-Saclay students i need thissss.
