Hi everyone,
I’ve been doing Uber Eats delivery in Brisbane since 2022.
After a few years on the road, one thing I’ve noticed is that it’s getting harder to work efficiently. There seem to be more riders in the same areas, and outside the main 1–2 peak hours, a lot of e-bike riders are just waiting around, unsure whether to stay or move somewhere else.
Uber gives us a heat map, but personally, after using it for a long time, I don’t always find it reliable enough to make decisions from.
So I’ve been working on a free tool for delivery riders.
The idea is simple: riders can share their location and activity status with each other, so you can get a better idea of how competitive an area is. For example, you could see whether nearby riders are waiting, driving, or delivering.
It also includes a few practical features for delivery work, like checking nearby public toilets, reviewing your delivery routes, fuel cost calculation, and more accurate hourly rate tracking.
It doesn’t guarantee more money, and that’s not what I’m trying to claim. The goal is just to give riders another useful signal when deciding whether to wait, move, or try a different area.
(You don’t need everyone using it for it to be useful. Even if just 4 riders, including yourself, are online within a 3 km radius, it can already give you a helpful signal of how competitive the area might be.)
I’ve spoken directly with around 50 Uber Eats riders in Brisbane, and most of them said they would find something like this useful.
I’d really appreciate honest feedback from people who actually do delivery work.
Do you think this kind of tool would be useful, or is there anything you would change?
(It doesn’t use any Uber data. it only works through users voluntarily sharing their own location and activity status, so it doesn’t interfere with Uber’s terms.)
Money matters, but safe riding matters most. Have a great day!
The app is called Savvy Driver.
I won’t drop the link here in case it goes against group rules, but you can search “Savvy Driver” on Google Play or the App Store.
