Look, blowing 3-1 lead sucks. Especially to Philly. That being said we do need to relax and not overreact to firing Mazzulla, trading Brown and Dwhite. Here are some points I’d like people to consider
-Philly had 4 of the top 6 players in this series and if that roster was healthy the whole year they definitely would not be the 7 seed
-Our roster was only going to go so far and with the roster limitations, which means living and dying by the 3 or hero ball
-Celts are gonna have cap space to sign free agents and take on more money via trades in the off season
-We have Brad Stevens, one of the best GMs in basketball
-Tatum looked great in his return and will only look better with the new season starts
-the bench and young guys developed making them great assets and cheap contracts to contribute
-While Mazzulla has now 3 pretty terrible exists to the post season, he has won a ring and far exceeded expectations this season. For those wanting him fired I would like to remind everyone that Stevens, Udoka, and Mazzulla all have had the similar issues at the end of the games with hero ball. At some point we have to accept that is just the Jays and we gotta live with it.
- Trading white and Brown is pointless. White is an excellent defensive guard who is having a shooting slump; he was never supposed to take 26 shots in a game. Brown had a career year, but showed this series he may be better as a second option and that’s ok.
As far as I’m concerned if we can get a decent big and another guard who can score it, I’m content. In Brad we trust.
At the end of the day it’s not worth throwing away this team for a bad series loss against a worthy opponent in what was supposed to be a gap year.
