New bike day! A new to me 1984 Miyata 912

I picked up his bike last night, and I couldn’t be happier. It needs some cosmetic work, but that will be taken care of in due time.

This feels significantly different from the modern aluminum Trek AL5 I’m currently borrowing while my gravel bike is undergoing some work. It feels incredibly comfortable, and the transmission is smooth for its class, although it could benefit from some minor adjustments.

The first thing I’ll do is replace the bike saddle with a Selle Italia Turbo. I’ll also get some new bar tape because the current is not for me.

Before I disassemble the bike and get it repainted, I’d like to source some decals. I remember seeing a source for them before, but it’s no longer available. Do you have any ideas?

What does it take to rust this 4130 Chromoly steel bike? Salvageable?

The bike is for sale locally, and I think it looks pretty slick, but they’re describing it as a “rust look,” but of course you can’t buy the bike like this. Obviously it needs a little bit more than just to clean up, a few missing parts as well, but can it be saved?
