Hi.

So this is my first house I've just moved into. When exploring the loft I found what I assume is some sort of venting pipe to the outside.

It's partially sealed inside and it looks like some critter has previously became a temporary Tennant and made its nest on the floor below it.

I can see some kind of cover on the outside when I look through the pipe.

So my question is, should this be fully sealed on the inside? My guess it looks like it used to be there for some other purpose?

I'm no expert in roof spaces so looking for guidance.
