A way to do multilingual WP without the manual copy-paste
I’ve been trying to find a decent way to translate my site without paying a fortune for "per-word" services or manually moving text back and forth between an AI and the editor.
I’ve been messing with MCP (Model Context Protocol) and Claude lately and it’s actually working pretty well.
Instead of the usual mess, I’m using a setup that connects Claude directly to my site. I use the MCP server from Lara Translate that handles the heavy lifting. The nice part is that it doesn't break the blocks or the HTML — it just swaps the text and leaves the structure alone.
My process now:
- Tell the AI to grab the English post.
- Have it translate it (while keeping the WPML links/meta intact).
- It saves it as a draft automatically.
It’s not 100% hands-off — I still read through it to make sure the AI didn't say anything weird — but it’s way better than the old way of doing things.
Just thought I’d share for anyone else tired of the "Copy -> Translate -> Paste -> Fix Formatting" loop. How are you guys handling translations these days? Stick with the built-in stuff or find a better shortcut?
Native AI translation in TMGMT: How to automate workflows without losing context or layout integrity
Hi everyone,
If you’ve managed large multilingual Drupal sites, you know the TMGMT module is a good way to go, but the actual translation process (especially with AI) can still feel a bit disconnected from the site's context.
We built an integration that lives directly inside TMGMT. The goal was to solve three specific issues:
- Context: Choosing between 'Faithful', 'Fluid', or 'Creative' styles based on the content type.
- Consistency: Using translation memories and glossaries so the AI doesn't hallucinate brand terms.
- Layout: Ensuring the translated strings don't break your site's design.
We’re hosting a live, hands-on session on May 7th at 11 AM CEST to show the technical setup and how it handles complex nodes.
