In one of my Arts/edu units I learnt about social capital. That being a university student you are liberated or have more advanced connections via Deakin in society. In comparison as if you did not. Those connections still feel very superficial in nature, and , when I was first told life outiside university may need to be left behind. Although it’s sound good, it’s smoke and mirrors. I still find way more connections outside university. I feel disempowered , I’m not really footing the social agenda, excluding young men who are not into footy or want to spend money on gym… as myself. Rather keep things transparent than sweep it under the rug. Hang on me all you want. I’d rather be around supportive people that don’t exclude me.
