New to PC building here. I keep seeing a flood of RX 580 8GB cards on Facebook Marketplace priced around $17–$27, usually labeled “defective” with issues like no display after a Windows update or fans spinning but no signal.

I’m trying to figure out whether these are actually salvageable (like a simple BIOS issue or minor fix), or if they’re mostly mined cards that are already near death and not worth the effort.

For those who’ve bought these kinds of listings, are people unknowingly selling fixable GPUs—or are these basically dead cards being offloaded? Is this a realistic “easy fix” scenario, or more of a money pit?

Would appreciate real experiences before I decide to gamble on one.
