Was kishimoto planning something bigger for Dosu before changing his mind?
Dosu always had an oddly large amount of screentime in the chunin exams. Other throw away characters like oboro, shigure and yoroi usually had nothing else on them besides showcasing the characters they lost to, but Dosu always had some presence in most scenes. Besides obviously literally going through a small development arc when learning he was just a pawn in Orochimaru's hands, he also had a focus during the written test, showing his hearing skills, during the tree scene where GAARA first appeared and that fight against Lee where he almost soloed him. I know that kishimoto was pressured to quicken the pace of the story by his editors so he needed some cuts, and there went the sound trio, but could him have initially planned to make him do something else? And if yes, what do you think he was going to do?
