about eunie

I want to start this off by saying that Eunie is my favourite character in the game, and that this whole thing might just be a result of my greedy ass wanting more Eunie screentime, but I'm kinda disappointed with Eunie's character arc compared to the other main cast members.

A bit more of context: I just finished Mio's sidequest with Minabi in chapter 6, meaning that I'm about to go see sleeping Nia (according to the game). The reason I'm "complaining" (probably not the right word?) about this now is that I'm assuming I'm reaching the end of the story, meaning that I'm practically 99% sure Eunie is not gonna have something else going on for her.

This leads to me wanting more perspectives on this matter. How did you feel about her arc compared to the others? Because I don't know if its me being extremely biased towards her or if she really got shafted there.

Lanz has his ongoing arc with Joran about how his death affected him and how he now has to confront him as Moebius. He also had his moment with Taion and Sena about being weak, pretending to be confident, yada yada.

Sena had her arc about lacking confidence in herself, about always belittleing herself and following Mio, which then peaked when confronting Shania in chapter 5.

Taion also had his personal growth with Isurd and Nimue.

Mio had her whole homecoming arc about not wanting to die, and just now about why she became an off seer and whatnot.

and then there's Eunie, whose whole arc was finding her previous corpse, having ptsd for a chapter, and then when Taion asked her wtf she was doing and to lock in, she locked in.

It just feels... empty... or lacking substance. With every other character, we thoroughly delved into their past, which then connected to their present selves, explaining their motivations and the evolution of their mentality. We get none of that with Eunie.

The thing is that that arc had so much potential. It started so strong and would have been so good at developing some sort of internal hidden existential crisis or whatever. Technically, it did weight her down, but it was resolved way too quickly, was surface level, and kinda felt like an afterthought, as if it wasn't that important. This is especially true when the conclusion of her "arc" was massively overshadowed by Joran reappearing right after Lanz declared him an enemy, making it a continuation of his arc instead of Eunie's conclusion. And then they were defeated like every other generic Moebius boss.

What makes this worse is when everyone finds out about the reborn cycle. What does Eunie get from that? One conversation with Monica. And then we have N's flashback to deal the finishing blow with the whole seeing his past lives and stuff.

I'm definitely expecting Joran to reappear, since there's no way they killed him right there. But when he does, it's 100% gonna be a Lanz thing and not a Eunie ptsd thing, which makes sense, but in that case why would you make Joran's form the one that killed Eunie.

but yeah, here's my ted talk

tldr: Eunie shafted in the character story portion, even though there was so much potential
