Isn't it unfair to assume OFAH is outdated humour?

I know this is my second post in like a minute but nobody else watches this in my life because it's too old for them 💀

I know my gen always gets accused of being overly 'woke' and I'm not getting into that at all, but from that era isn't OFAH one of the more progressive shows?

The first couple of episodes, it was two Indians that bested Del. Denzil was a regular character, Corinne had that fantastic episode where she was funny and intelligent, Raquel was quite feminist, Cassandra was a powerhouse at her job etc.

I think a lot of my friends think it's going to be certain type of humour but it's actually kind of wholesome? Idk what other kinds of shows were on at the time but, I think my question is, OFAH is one of the best sitcoms that handles progressive sentiments whilst also being funny right? It's not overly sterilised because obviously look at the decade it was written, but it's also not constantly punching down.

Q about the Boycie baby adoption episode - Isn't Marlene obviously mixed race?

I am a super new fan, so if it's been discussed before I'm sorry🫶🏻

But I always thought she was obviously not fully white, so why couldn't they pass the baby of as theirs? I think the joke would have hit better if it was a Chinese baby for example, because Marlene has always looked ethnic?
